Daily Dozen Shake

This shake is loaded with Dr. Greger’s food suggestions, incorporating 5 of the 12 daily recommendations in one tasty cup. Dr. Greger, from NutritionFacts.org, has come up with a Daily Dozen Challenge, in which he advises 12 foods/food categories you should consume daily to stay healthy. We encourage you to give his challenge and our shake a try!

Produces: ≈ 2 cups

Ingredients:

1 cup water, room temperature
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp ground flax seeds
2 tbsp nut or peanut butter
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp matcha powder
1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp turmeric, fresh or ground
Dash of Himalayan sea salt
1/2 avocado
1 ripe banana

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender, starting with the water, chia and flax seeds so that they can gel up. This helps maximize their nutritional benefits. Optional: allow the chia seeds and ground flax to soak in the water for 5 minutes before adding other ingredients
  2. Blend until smooth
  3. Pour into a glass and sip away!
